Monday

Caught unawares by an early district nurse. Relief lady ah well no bath but hey ho. Plan for the day is to hang around for parcel collection. I am in the garden pegging out when he calls he waits milliseconds, the legs it. I is cross. Tired in the afternoon. Jean and Ally had left work/school early for the extraction of a tooth. It was postponed as the nappy gas apparatus was in a state of disrepair - not happy.
Quiet evening with cottage pie. The Scottish plan continues to expand - Edinburgh two nights staying with Julie hoping to catch Laurence then off to Glasgow, to see Fi and Auds then away to The bonnie bonnie banks

ITV Customise Listings

ITV Customise Listings Nanna is confused by the footy being advertised as being on both channels. The Grauniad and the Observer are both useless as being printed over a week ago. End up looking on on BBC website then this one. The customise your listing page is interesting. Question 1. Where do you live - first choice - not sure. Hmmmm. Still I am still aching from watching Ricky Gervais Live last night. He is a bad boy. Grandma and co for lunch I was up spag bol and salmon/prawn garlc cream towo of my standard dishes which turn out good. Bloomin tired afterwards and the women folk scoot to the crem to remember Jeans Dad 5 years ago today.Quiet evening at home though germ of a scottish break begins to form.

The Wardround: Weblog

The Wardround: Weblog Interesting bloggie sort of thing.

Saturday

Ally has lost her glasses big time panicking all round. House stripped down and floorboards lifted no joy. Tesco online shop arrives. Amost compete it was the pits doing it though and the price for delivery has increased to 5.99 for a good slot. Visit from the youngs very convivial though somewhat rushed by an appt with optician. I follow the girls down using the trusty 173, I suspect the bus company wil withdraw it soon asit is becoming a lifeline. Me and hilda betty and mark the ony other users will have to engage in some sort of process. BTW I only really know marks name but old ladies seems so cod for my regular fragrant companions. I am sure driver tony wouldn't be happy either. Though I aint sure where the 173 is on the busmens peckin order.

Thursday - tired again

Ally off school me idling and getting frustrated and bored. Kim has to cancel lunch gig due to heavy cold -good job really as Margaret was late. I don't bath - mainly to see effects on wound. Hmmmmmm. Off to see Prof Morriss (never sure how to spell his name). he wants me to sit on steering group for an RCT about BAD selfmanagement education. Nice guy. I am worried I am slipping into a depressive phase he aint. Doing well keep popping the pills and go get bloods checked. He says I look anaemic and Jean reminds me I need B12 jabberoo. Deep joy. Ring nurses first thing to discuss logistics of above. Jean is off today to prepare the gaff for visitors. I am concerned that we keep losing the the wireless connection intermittently. Hmm. Only for 5 seconds and nopwt happens but I dont know what it means.
The Guadian suggest two sites worth a look in the online today. 1. The London paramedic listed elsewhere on the page and Kaztype a touch typing tutor. I think I shall purchase that. 24.95. Seems worth a punt to me. Get miffed with Guardian Charirty Awards - only open to Charities which have been going for 2 years.
We call at tesco I invest in a chicken and Leek fil pie which is the biz (finest of course). Then we watch football. Regular readers will know I dont like i but even I was interested I like Kierans take on it. And so to bed.

Think back to wedneday

Erm usual routine I think. Certainly in the morning - I got the 173 (not Tony) no name specified down to Allerton Road looked at 6 different eateries and rejected them all on various grounds. I ended up with a smoked salmon and cream cheese on brown in hampers. Very tasty it was followed by a piece of substandard carrot cake I didnt eat. Then along the road to the fishmongers where engage in baner with the very nice man and purchase two trout. Off to th green grocers next door and look into the butchers adjacent to that. Three top shops selling good stuff within half a mile of Tesco. As a consequence of this herculanean (sp) effort I am goosed and manage to hail and fall in to a black cab.
Arrive home goosed. Less than 20 mins of effort. Not happy.
Jeans has to cook the trout is tops.

Lunch in the 'hood

Met kim at the restaurant at the end of the street. good lunch I had a medicinal red wine aperitif. Salmon spud (literally) and spinach carrot cake to follow. Any percieved over indulgence balanced by her saying I had lost weight. Nice meal not many tales from down under but she got badly sun burnt.
This post took 4 days to get here how odd.

Arrive in the gym - lunched wih Norman and partook of soup. Very good. Prawns too. The sun came out so I sat ouside. Most enjoyable got the bus back to top of our road and was exhausted.

Enjoyed watching England - I predicted a hattrick for the boy - so was as dissapointed as he look when took off.

Tyrrells Potato Chips | Homepage Jean bought me a bag of the parsnip boys top stuff.

Wednesday off to court

Don't worry poor reader - I haven't been arrested by the diatribe police yet. Nope its the day to go and sort the probate. Needs to be an in person gig. Deep joy. Up before dawn (well 8.30) and bussed into town by Jean a convivial young man sorts us out. We read statement sign swear on the testament and shebang. 135 quid stuffs in post. Intrigued by the notice on the toilet door. "Wil the person who keeps spitting on the floor, pease refrain. " keeps implies to me its a regular event. Not good, and this as the signs keep reminding me is an office of the supreme court. Supreme court - I didn't know we had one. Mebbe we been annexed by George dubya in the night. How would I know, would they interrupt time time on discovery to tell me. Well here I sit gathering rays. Well after court went to M and S had a coffee water and pecan yum yum thing. Saw 3 people I knew who didn't recognise me so I didn't let on. Got a few things in food bit then back home. Chillling now after prawns and smoked salmon. Scrogged may need a kip. DN due at 2.30 must not leave it too late today.
One dn had been and left a message on the answerphone - meanwhile debbie arrives at 2.30. Never mind. In the middle of all this news that in my absence the website WLSinfo has achieved 1000 members. Completely chuffed.
In the afternoon my new bit of wirelss kit arrived the snappily named Turbo multifunction device which is a truly marvellous piece of kit. Combine it with the Comuter shopper best buy and you are away - potentially. As I eagerly rip open my products I realise I have boo boo'ed big time - or have simply. Nope they sent what I ordered. What I should have ordered was USR 8054 not 5450 OK they look similar cost the same but aint I am wrong and Jean will kill me. Consider the options - burying the evidence -and telling porkies aint good at that. Decide to cough up.Later that night she tells me I am a muttonhead and allows me to order the right gizmo.
Top stuff. Mere words dont express how fed up I am about it.

Margaret bearer of bad tiding

Monday - I asked Nurse Margaret could I drive - getting frustrated. That'll be a big no. Hmmm She is right - but that doesnt make me feel better. Kim is back and is in touch. Getting bored - very scoot round the net and paper journals looking at the delights of 802.11g. It looks like This is the beast for me. Get a good deal from Simply. Ah pleasing. Checked with Jean and order placed.

NeLH: Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin (iDTB) Gateway Seems useful to me. Must dig out my athens password and check it out.

Tired old Saturday

Arise at a decent hour - 8.30 and chill alone. Girls surface at 10.45 just as Margaret touches down. Wound doing well - though not quick enough for me. Mum rings some lowlife broke into her shed last night. They got the lawnmower over the 8ft wall but left it on the other side. It serves to reinforce her vulnerability. But what to do? After lunch I am whacked and I go to bed - feel the benefit of a couple of hours kip. But wake up well out of sorts. Pass a late fitness test for the night out. Tip up at Mike and Janes and Mike ferries yume up to Winwick, we pick up adair on the way. Terrible attendance- several theories but we enjoy.

Friday five

No it isn't but I just remembered the title. Kieran seems to have give up on it. Eary start to the day and the novel I got is a bit weird. Get up and piddle around with pc. Then jean and ally arise, I keep a low profile and they are gone too soon. Postman brings amazon parcel and standard life endowment shortfall notice. Nice. Ring the natwest and short a quote to cover it. Helpful lady on the line. How odd. Cathy d/n catches me off guard listening to jools holland. The bloody l key L that is, on this blackberry is driving me bananas. Keeps sticking. Prawn mousse wrapped in smoked salmon on a bagel for lunch this boy knows how to live. Mum phones she is having cataracts done at the end of August. Well just one I think she has had a battery of tests and is seeing frank on tuesday.

Home - fiddle about on web then East enders rerun on 10 - followed by Jonny Ross - Ille Nastase some R&B singer (just when did R&B become reinvented) and Gordon Ramsay - who was less irritating than I recall.

Super Thursday - not here

Jean has a phased return which enables her to start late, so she gets up sorts aly then comes back and sorts me. Or this mornin leaves me snoring. Jon has dropped off the blackberry. I wake refreshed from the tea she has provided and my guts are explosive. Hmmm can't blame the lactulose but it explains the smells that I have been generating. Margaret arrives nicely timed with completion of shower. All moving well if slowlly. Take a leisurely slow strolll up to the top for milk and coke, tempted by a pack of bagels and enjoy one with boursin lite and smoked salmon for lunch. Spend a pleasant 20 mins on the phone to tivo helpline. The pleasant steve sort my problem with impeccable professionalism. Poor sod they didn't even have a policy of recording some calls. He was obviously too good for his job. Having sorted my scart/rf troubles I happily burn a video of desperate dieters. My mum will want to see it copies avaiabe on request (joke).
Girls get in Caroline from work rings she too is, on the sick. I ring johnny mc for an overdue catch up. What a top. Geezer he is and funny with it. He rang me in hospita but recalls I was talking crap. Nowt new there then. Tired out and steam cuisine for tea, then off to borders. The girls are eating macdonalds iam in starbucks - ah globilisation!rude man pushes in the queue in front of me can't be bothered to assert. Romantic couple - she has squeaky voice eek. Girs have dissapeared and I ack instructions. I start to panic - phew here's jean.

Rest of wednesday

Walked home sowly from the Halfway - what a dive abd the shandy was poo. Managed to warm some Tesco finest cottage pie and veg for tea. Not meuch happens in the evening I am worn out. Flop in front of the telly which is becoming a regular feature. Medicate then time for bed.

Wednesday morning

Woke up about 5.30 with belly warch. Big time something was goin on but not yet. Messed about reading got up messed about spoke to jk on messenger. Went back to bed as girls got up. Fell back to sleep and awoken by margaret at 10.30. My how fresh this wound smells I remark, write that in yer records I challenge. She says I don't look myself I promise to rectify that by tomorrow. We banter well the wound is improving. I wash and trot to the shops to pay the newspaper bill 80 summat quid, we always forget. Back home, tagliatelle. Postie has delivered two this life vids. Sid from cell rings him and Jimmy are gonna come round. Ring me mum and tell her jean and I have the probate appt for next wednesday. Plan a walk to the greengrocer and coffeshop. Foiled by a full coffee shop need a break so take a rest in the halfway house with a glass of shandy., whilst posting this. That reminds me need to monitor ebay.

Wife to be

Wife to be Not my wife to be - Tracy from t'library has fallen under loopy boys influence and starting blogging. Good to see. Looking forward to the angst. This reminds me the other day on the bog the only reading matter I ould find was Cosmo hair and beauty and I found myself reasing Katy Hills (ex blue peter chickette, who I have met) pre wedding diary.
What a lot of tosh it was. Top her list of things todo 3months out was subscribe to cosmo brides book - clever marketing or what.

That was Tuesday

Monday night had a couple of pints in the Richmond Tavern.
Dull morning - punctuated by Cathy - I tell her the wound whiffs to me she says it doesnt. Jean tells me to stop saying it as they write it down everyday. I promise tomorrow to say it smells of roses. Meander to the post office like a poorly performing Normandy veteran. Overtaken by several bowling grannies on the way. rushing with their little leather bags, light sandals and more crepe based fabric than is good for us. I suspect their green is flat not proper like I have played on (twice).
Came back sat in the yard read - watched myself on discovery what a hoot. Cringe factor 73. Jean watches it and cringes at herself and my pomposity. Ally watches it later declares it ok apart from cringing stills of her.
Result I think dont mention website support group or owt like that though.

does anyone else hate pocket pcs

great idea crap inthe execuution.

Monday - on my lonesome

Jean back to work and Ally back to school. Easy start to the day and build to a shower which I complete as the Nurse (debbie) arrives. Wound looks ok, dropped Frank an email and get some lactulose and pottassium. Watch a new programmme on Discovery Health at 3pm. As if by magic the Tivo box locks up. Though it seems that it wasnt just me. Desperate dieters a title we weren't happy with but people trying hard to sort themselves out isn't snappy. Nell/Ellen off the website looks good. Its repeated 9pm Mondays, I am in Ep2 tomorrow at 3. Cringe factor 10 - still if one one more person gets the message thats cool. Bit miffed that discovery seem unable to hae put up a link to the site on their website. As usual the media let us down - nowt new there then.
Made a chilli for tea and freezin - knakkered after so sit in sun in Garden - very nice. janet from work rings.
Have a sleep - need it - wake up ravenous.
Interesting piece on the Beeb news about the Euro elections in the Czech republic. Their ex astronaut candidate has free goulash and beer and ex porn star Dolly Buster promises free porn every Friday. What do we get. Kilroy silk (varnish man) and Joan Collins. Not good.
Planning to get out tonight with Mick and Ian - see what socialising is about - now what trousers fit me?

Sunday - wound improved

Had a good sleep in. Jean gets off to Tesco - Ally and I doss. Carol the D/N comes and notes an improvement. Jean comes back slight bump on the bumper of the car - need to sort that out. Light lunch, don't take in much D-Day stuff. Pop to mothers, she talks continuously. Back home chicken casserole which I made for Tea.Speak to sister in the evening. Not much ot TV in the late hours.

Casualty - poop telly

Charlie Fairhead/Fairhurst or whatever his name is aint happy. 25 years in the NHS he has had enough. Its my 25th year too, but I aint as disillusioned as Charlie.

Saturday morning up with the lark.

Far too early and like many people it seems had a poor nights sleep. Hung around lemon like for the morning not feeling like doing much. Carol D/N came, wound had leaked more than usual and whiffed a bit. Short on dressings so make do and mend really. She is a hoot and wanted to see cardboard Ken which is the talk of the wash house. Reminded me I am 4 weeks post op today and only two weeks out of hospital. Seems like an eternity to me.
Ruth and Tom visited in the afternoon , good catch up invite to birthday tea for Emmas 21st, and they borrowed our pressure washer. Fair doo's it resides in their garage anyway.
Jean went off to the chemist to get yet more dressing supplies - sorbsan with charcoal - could be handy for the whiff.
As a treat I took her to somerfield. She loathed it, it is bad, but I think its so bad I enjoy it. It is so Eastern euroopean. There are some real gems hidden in there - port salut slices for example. and frankie dettori ice cream.

Friday

Not much happened - really. I am still knakkered. Vineeta from WLSINFO has a TIVO the only other person I have met. District Nurse called - running low on dressings etc expecting a delivery from craig the mobile pharmacy man. Girls go off for a scalping at some posh gaff in Allerton Road. I am vegetating, bowels backing up and feeling lacklustre. call from mum, Colin is arranging the house clearance of Nannies - for which I am grateful. Call from Taxi Billy from cell - he was worried about me when I was in dock. Salmon for tea and girls off to Beas. I chill. Watch have I got news for you and Jonny Ross - woman off the office, man of the x-files and jean Luc. Very good. I also ordered some sounds off amazon (had a voucher) jools holland and norah jones.

eBay item 4192700443 (Ends 10-Jun-04 22:30:00 BST) - THIS LIFE - SERIES 2 - 6 VIDEO SET - 21 PROGRAMMES! Jean (and I ) followed this in 1997. We bought series one on video - then DVD. Jean was after series two which never hit DVD. All of it has ben deleted and costs a mint on ebay.

Thursday - a retrospective

Quiet morning, fairly formulaic - district nurse arrived wound same of the same. Delightful visit from Archie and Annabel (3 months). Plenty to catch up on. Archie and Paul arrive to pick them up. Chill then some tea, I am not eating well really and I have to up that tomorrow. get a few letters done. Was going to try walking to the post office but conclude I am not up to it. Very amusing visit from Ruth and Paul later. Not much on Telly.

I enter the world of call centre confidential

Start making a few calls trying to sort out Nannies affairs. BT are very good. Pearl Assurance were cool, Liverpool Direct were funky. Then I rang some number at the regeneration dept of the council about a bill for 21 quid. Answered by a nice young lady who tells me that there is nobody available from the department concerned. They are in a "workshop", she doesnt work for the council and is just squatting at a desk. I giggle.
British gas were pooh, man promised to call back but didnt. Very uninspiring, despite the Jim Royle adverts on telly. Jean is gardening and I join her outside for a while but I am concious of sunburn. Come in to the house and lie on the bed relaxing. Don't get a nap but chill out.
Surface to tesco cottage shepherds pie thing, then its off to speke. Jean needs some gardening gear. Ally and I skulk in Borders. Back via Nannas. Then to tesco. I was looking for some guinness on the its good for you theory. But I settle for fo some Murphys, and enjoy two later. we watch BBC 4 - how strange is that. Good show though Despite Dans Luvvie nature sowed bits I aint seen before - very good.

Sefton News - Gossip - Local Blogs

Sefton News - Gossip - Local Blogs I appear here - interesting concept though very out of date it seems.

Wednesday Morning where does time go -

Letter from bank saying our mortgage rate deal is coming to an end and we need to make choices. What to do. Too hard for me. Need to sort out other paper work today.
Ally up before Jean and we sit surfin together. tres bien. Need a toilet stop in a mo. things still aint easy in that dept.
Me chillin listening to Radio 6 then a bit of Jools. At about 10.40 I go upstairs and notice my wick hanging - not cool. I wonder if Debbie the DN fits them with a time switch. Anyway despite my strongish stomach this knocks me for 6 a bit too juicy for me. Also shades of tagliatelle from last night.
Forgot to mention spoke to Mal and Jack from cell last night - updates sent. Dressing added too nausea settled Jean up time for shower me thinks. Jean out for lunch with her mum Ally off to town. I chill. Watch trash telly read and surf. Lasagne for lunch, Frank rings, growing three bugs in wound he wants dn's to check with lab about prescription. Joined up care top stuff. Margaret the DN comes we laff as she pokes in my insides, tears are dripping down my face, I suggest we consider a gig at the Edinburgh fringe. There is money in my misery I suspect. After that a bit of paperwork.

The Ash Bash

District Nurse Debbie running a bit late for us but she gets there. We are at the edge of the patch. I get into my day clothes with surprising ease despite swollen tum. Ally decides to join us at the last minute. Get to mums and they are all there. Pat, Ronnie, Betty mums siblings and Uncle john, husband of Betty.
5 mins to crem from mums and off into Book of remembrance room where I ring apointments only bell. Nice gent donning jackets comes round from outside to greet me. I'll just move my spade to plot 12 Sir. The family move up to plot 12 and we ascertain the spot. He digs a hole abot 9" deep. We are joined by Jimmy the nicotine stained but top flight undertaker. The crem man has a chrome ash can, "would a member of the family like to deposit the ashes" surprisingly Ronnie offers to. Jean steps forward with a prayer and the jobs a good un.
Into the remembrance book room where we agree to get one done for Nannie. Then off to the pub in the park next door to the crem. A millers kitchen a traumatic experience to say the least. i am too tired to blog it at the minute . Mebbe later - who knows.
Tried to kip and couldn't. Too much trauma at the pub in the park.
Listening to my mum and her two sisters telling each other how to do everyting for two hours was two much. The food was poor, and the service provided by saturday workers who I felt sorry for, was worse. It was without doubt one of the worst meals I have had out in a while. Still everyone pretended it was fine fayre. For the record I hit lasagne and sorbet. Mum stood the cost of ours so no room to moan would be the best comment. Mum sent back her chicken in a way only my mum can which completely nonplussed this 16 year old. Thats why no one ever wants to take me out she said. Hmmm mum aint never learnt just to accept it. Or complain quietly.
At teatime i have tagliatelle. Which is ironic - how? The nurse said this mornin this dirty aquacell is enough to put you off tagliatelle isn't it. Strangely no - and for the record aquacell is wider than tagliatelle.

welcome

welcome Avid blog watchers will recall my fire fighting history and keen following of fire engine pictures. This man is obsessed, but his pictures are good.

Tuesday am

Ally went to the pics yesterdy afternoon went out for tea then off to a friends. She got in just before 10.30, cool as a cucumber with us two worrying. Sad I know. Good kip - wake up this morning wander to kitchen feel better afer a cup of tea. While I am brewing a dull splash on the kitchen floor and an unpleasant feeling. A piece of Aquacell has crawled out of its cavity and fell on the floor. Gravity helped the last bit and the pull felt odd. I looked at it forlornly, wondered if it would scupper off and set up home. it had turned from sterile white wool into a soupy mix with plenty to live on. Resisting the temptation to shout for Jean (as my voice has gone with fear) I scoop up some kitchen roll and slap the wick in the bin. Not nicey. The plan for today - shower, district nurse, and then crem lunch at pub in the park and then who knows. Bit of a wild card how mum will react to the ash scattering. I am too worried if I will fir in any h.trousers with this swollen gut. Force extra bran in bowels is going sluggish.
